Presentation summary: The Pennsylvania Forest Seminar: Regenerating Hardwood Forests – Managing Competition, Deer, and Light webinar will look at the regeneration, or re-growth, of forests which require that sufficient numbers of desirable tree seedlings become established following a timber harvest. Forest sustainability is threatened without adequate forest regeneration. Regeneration failures and re-growth of less desirable tree species are common. Competing plants, over-browsing by deer, and insufficient light to the forest floor interfere with tree seedling establishment and growth. Dave Jackson from Penn State Extension will provide information on key practices used to successfully establish hardwood forest regeneration.
