Presentation summary:
This presentation will provide an overview of timber sustainability as it relates to harvesting.  Sustainability is defined as meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Assessment tools used to measure the impacts of timber harvesting decisions and practices will be discussed.  The assessment tools provide guidelines for attaining sustainable timber harvesting outcomes by considering the answers to seven questions about a harvest.  Users of the assessment tools will be able to make an educated evaluation about the sustainability of a proposed harvest.
