Each Game of Logging workshop counts for 8 hours (2 years) of PA SFI Continuing Education (C.E.) credit. Additionally, Game of Logging 1 is a Core Requirement of PA SFI Training. Individuals seeking C.E. or Core training credit must submit a completed Non-SFI Course C.E. credit form (this form may not be available at the training so you will need to print it out beforehand), a course agenda or certificate of completion, and a $20 administrative fee (Check made payable to “PA SFI SIC”) to the PA SFI office. Continuing Education credit can only extend your PA SFI Training Card expiration date by a maximum of 3-years from the current calendar year. What will you learn?
Bats in the eastern U.S. are experiencing significant declines due to disease, wind-turbines, and loss and fragmentation of their forested habitats related to urban development. Climate change may also impact their populations and distribution. U.S. Forest Service Research Ecologist Susan C. Loeb, will discuss the plight of different bat species as well as the results of recent studies on the effects of forest management and other disturbances on their populations and how forest management can be used to create habitat. Loeb will also discuss a new plan to monitor bat populations at local, regional, and continental scales that will assist managers and policy makers in developing better conservation and management strategies for these important species. learn more here...

Game of Logging - New York

The following programs are being offered at Cornell University’s Arnot Forest, 611 County Road 13, VanEtten, NY. Directions available at:  www.arnotforest.info. Attendees meet at the field campus parking lot, beyond the lodge at 7:45 AM, and conclude no earlier than 4:00 PM, often longer. Trainings are held regardless of weather, so please dress accordingly. Participants should plan to bring: lunch, water, their own chainsaw and personal protective equipment, including: hard hat, eye protection, hearing protection, and chaps.

Pre‐registration and pre‐payment are required:

Registration fees for NYFOA/NYSMPA members are $132 per day and non-members are $152 per day. Registration includes hands-on training, handouts, and a certificate of completion. Registration is limited to 10 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Minimum of 6 participants required to hold class.
