Presentation summary:
White-tailed deer are a valuable, renewable,
natural resource enjoyed by many. They have the widest distribution of any
large animal found in North America. White-tailed deer are also known as a
keystone species or keystone herbivore because of their ability to impact many
other organisms. This presentation will introduce you to white-tailed deer
biology, habitat requirements for food, cover, water and space, and lastly
management practices to improve food and cover availability and balance deer
populations with available habitat. It is important to maintain
"healthy" deer populations so they can be enjoyed by future
generations.
